Australia recorded their first win of the edition in ODI World Cup 2023 against Sri Lanka by 5 wickets with the help of a brilliant bowling effort from their bowlers who ended up restricting the Lankan side to just 209 runs.

Sri Lanka winning the toss opted to bat first and got off to a good start as both their openers Nissanka and Kusal Perera scored fifty-plus to record a 125-run partnership for the first wicket but from 125/0 they ended up collapsing to a below-par score of 209 runs.

Australia in the run-chase initially faced a hurdle from Dilshan Madushanka, as he picked two quick wickets of Steven Smith and David Warner inside just 4 overs but fifties from Mitchell Marsh and Josh Inglish alongside a well-made 40 from Labuschagne helped them to win this game convincingly.
