As per the
latest International Cricket Council ruling, the forthcoming franchise T20 league, ILT20, will not command a place in the player’s T20 records. The inaugural edition of
the ILT20 will take place from January 13 to February 12 at Dubai, Abu
Dhabi and Sharjah.
The tournament consists of six teams- Abu Dhabi Knight Riders, Desert Vipers, Dubai Capitals, Gulf Giants, MI Emirates, and Sharjah Warriors. The proven T20 players, Sunil Narine, Colin Munro, Rovman Powell, James Vince, Kieron Pollard and Moeen Ali are set to lead their respective sides in the tournament.
According
to a report in The Cricketer, players’ performances in ILT20 will not be reflected in their
T20 records. This is due to the fact that the T20 tournaments hosted by ICC
Non-Full Members are not taken into account in the player’s records. Also, the
ICC regulating body has confirmed to statisticians that no special exemption will
be made for the league arising from United Arab Emirates.
"The UAE ILT20 has been sanctioned by the ICC but List A T20 status will not be granted to this event as it does not meet the criteria in the regulations," an ICC spokesperson told The Cricketer.
