Sebastian Vettel said that he cannot exclude the possibility of making a comeback and that the idea of a potential comeback is not completely out of mind. Vettel announced his retirement after the completion of the 2022 Formula 1 season to spend more time with his family. However, if latest developments are to be believed, the four-time champion is considering coming out of retirement.
While Vettel is not actively working on his comeback, what he recently said signals that he hasn’t excluded the idea of making a comeback. In a conversation with SkySportsF1, the former f1 racer said, “I can't say no, because that you don't know. I think it's something that if you asked all of [the drivers who quit and came back] probably some of them would have said: 'No' [to a return], some of them I don't know, but in the end all of them came back, so I can't exclude it.
He went on to say, "It probably will depend much on when, and obviously it's not endless, because [at] 36 [I am] not like: 'Yeah in 10 years' time'”.
It could be a challenge, for sure: Fernando Alonso on Vettel’s potential comeback
Aston Martin racer Fernando Alonso reacted to Vettel’s potential comeback from retirement. Ahead of the Singapore Grand Prix, a Formula 1 quoted a surprised Alonso as saying, “I was not in the interview or in the conversation. Sometimes we read a headline and you don’t know exactly what it comes from, and what is the tone of the answers.”
The 42-year-old went on to say, “It’s up to him, obviously, if he thinks about [it]. As I said, I think when Daniel came back, it is a challenge. It cannot be underestimated, going back to F1. It could be a challenge, for sure.”
