India's wicketkeeper batter  KL Rahul said that they were expecting a competitive game in the  Asia Cup 2023 Final. India took down Sri Lanka in a complete single-sided affair to lift the Asia Cup for the eighth time on September 17, Sunday. The match started with Sri Lanka skipper Dasun Shanaka winning the toss and inviting the rivals to bowl. What followed was something that neither the teams nor the fans would have expected.

India's first success came in the form of  Kusal Perera, who was compelled to return to the pavilion on the third ball of the game. Perera went back without opening his account, and the team's score was at one. The next wickets for the previous winners fell in quick succession, and the highest scorer for them was Kusal Mendes with his 34-ball 17.

Rohit Sharma and Co. won the match and the tournament by 10 wickets, and reacting to the kind of match it was, wicketkeeper KL Rahul said that the team was expecting it to be a more competitive game during the post-match interview.

Speaking of the match, owing to the unrealistic spell by their pacers, especially,  Mohammed Siraj, India managed to bundle out their rivals at just 50 runs. Siraj, who was in his red-hot form clinched six wickets including Sri Lanka's skipper Dasun Shanaka. In return, India's Ishan Kishan and Shubman Gill came to open their side's innings and successfully chased the target in just seven overs.

While Ishan Kishan scored 23* off 18 balls, Shubman Gill remained not out at 27 off 19. Fondly called Miyan among his teammates, Siraj was awarded the Player of the Final, which he dedicated to the Sri Lankan ground staff.
