The Indian tennis legend Rohan Bopanna spoke about his milestone 500 wins on the tour, stating that it translated to an “incredible career, a consistent career.” The 43-year-old, who is paired with Matthew Ebden of Australia, the No. 2 seeds in the men’s doubles of the Australian Open, followed it up with an impressive win to reach the third round.
On Friday, January 19, in the second round of the Australian Open, the 43-year-old Rohan Bopanna achieved his 501st win on tour alongside his current partner Matthew Ebden, getting the better of the Australian wildcard pairing of John Millman and Edward Winters by 6-2, 6-4. After John Millman lost his final match in front of his home fans at Melbourne Park, he remarked, “We got a masterclass from Matty and Bops.”

Moreover, just a day prior, Rohan Bopanna and Matthew Ebden were taken to their limit in the first round of the Australian Open by another Australian wildcard pairing of James Duckworth and Marc Polmans, but they defeated them by 7-6 (7-5), 4-6, 7-6 (7-2). This was the 500th win on tour for Rohan Bopanna, who is aiming to win his first ever men’s doubles title at the Australian Open.
Rohan Bopanna commented on his 500 wins on tour, stating that he has had an incredible and consistent career in the sport of tennis. He said, as per Times of India, “When you get on the circuit you think you may win a match and then another. Slowly it gets better and better, 100, then 200. 500 is absolutely satisfying, especially when you look back and think of the number of sacrifices that you have made," Bopanna said. "Starting as a serve and volleyer and today I'm someone who serves and stays back, credit to my coach Scott Davidoff, who has been a great mentor.”
In the third round of the men’s doubles Australian Open, Rohan Bopanna and Matthew Ebden will take on the Dutchman Wesley Koolhof and the Croatian Nikola Mektic.
