The Indian team registered a dominant 44-run against Australia in the second T20I of the five-game series. With this win, the Men in Blue are 2-0 up in the series after winning the first game in a thrilling last-ball finish in Vizag. Australia won the toss but instantly regretted the decision as Indian openers had a zooming start.

The Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ruturaj Gaikwad duo lit up the Aussie new-ball bowlers by posting 77 runs in the powerplay. Jaiswal was the primary aggressor as he smashed  53 in 25 balls with nine fours and two sixes before falling prey to  Nathan Ellis. Ishan Kishan, India's number three, continued this batting carnage and carried the innings forward despite a few quiet overs.  After fending away the leg spinners, both Kishan and Gaikwad cut loose and went on to post a massive 87-run partnership.

Soon Ishan Kishan got out at  52 in 32 balls with three fours and four sixes but the batters coming in kept the scoring high with some high-impact hitting. The remaining Indian batters had a strong finish to the innings as they posted a humungous total of 235 runs. The star of this death overs' demolition was Rinku Singh with his stellar 9-ball 31 which included four fours and two sixes.

In the second innings, Australia also had a quick start but lost regular wickets and could only manage 53 runs while losing three big wickets. As the top four failed to score the lower-middle order duo of Marcus Stoinis and Tim David smashed the Indian bowlers all around the park. But as the Aussies kept losing wickets at regular intervals they couldn't find rhythm. Being nine-men down, captain Mathew Wade kept finding boundaries but the 235-run was too much and Australia fell short by 44 runs.
