Opening batter Smriti Mandhana continued her great form in the limited-overs cricket as India defeated West Indies by 211 runs in the first ODI of a three-match series at Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara, to take a 1-0 lead. Batting first, India posted 314/9 total in their 50 overs. After that, Renuka Singh shone with a five-wicket haul as West Indies were bowled out for just103 in 26.2 overs.
Coming to bat after losing the toss, India got a great start as Smiriti Mandhana and Pratika Rawal put up an opening partnership of 110 runs in 23.2 overs. Debutant Rawal got out after scoring 40 runs off 69 balls hitting four boundaries, while Mandhana top scored with 91 runs off 102 balls with 13 boundaries. After that, skipper Harmanpreet Kaur and Harleen Deol took charge of the innings.

Harmanpreet Kaur and Harleen Deol added 66 runs for the third wicket. Deol got out after scoring 44(50) runs while Kaur scored 34(23) runs. After that, Richa Ghosh (26 off 13) and Jemimah Rodrigues (31 off 19) gave finishing touches as India ended up posting 314/9 on the board. For West Indies, Zaida James took five wickets, skipper Hayley Matthews scalped two, while Ddeandra Dottin put one in her bag.
Chasing the winning target, West Indies lost the wicket on the very first ball of the innings as Qiana Joseph got run out without playing a single ball. The Windies women's cricket team kept losing wickets at regular intervals as Renuka Singh got the first five-wicket haul of her career. The fast bowlers registered figures of 5/29. Along with her, Priya Mishra took two, while Titas Sadhu and Deepti Sharma scalped a wicket each.
