In a big update, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) confirmed that India will host the 2025 edition of the Men’s Asia Cup. The news was confirmed after the ACC released an Invitation for Expressions of Interests (IEOI) document on Saturday, July 27, just a day ahead of the Women’s Asia Cup 2024 finale.

The document invited interested parties to submit their IEOI for ACC Sponsorship Rights for the period from 2024 to 2027.  "The details, including but not limited to the schedules, dates, years, formats and/or venues, regarding the ACC Tournaments given below are tentative and may be subject to change at anytime at the absolute discretion of ACC and without any liability to ACC," the document also mentioned.  It is to be noted that the 2023 Men’s Asia Cup was hosted in Pakistan and Sri Lanka in the 50-over format.

Bangladesh to host Men’s Asia Cup 2027 in ODI format

While the upcoming edition, which will be held in 2025, will be played in T20 format. However, the 2027 edition will switch to the ODI format and will be hosted in Bangladesh. Moreover, both tournaments will include six teams, namely, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan and a sixth team is yet to finalised. 

On the other hand, the next edition of the Women’s Asia Cup will also be played in t20 format and is scheduled to take place in 2026. The last edition was played in 2024 with Sri Lanka Women winning their maiden title, handing India Women an eight-wicket defeat in the final in Dambulla on Sunday, July 28.
