The Indian men’s team will leave for the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia two days after the conclusion of their ongoing T20I series against South Africa, as reported by Cricinfo. The Men in Blue will depart for Australia on 6 October and will have a preparatory camp ahead of the T20 World Cup.

India will have their training sessions in Perth till October 13 when they will play a practice game against Western Australia. After the game, Men in Blue will travel to Brisbane and face Australia and New Zealand in two more warm-up games prior to the tournament.

The training sessions will be key for several members of the T20 World Cup squad and the standbys as they have no experience of playing top-flight cricket in Australia. This list includes Suryakumar Yadav; Harshal Patel, who was part of one tour with the U-19s in 2009; Arshdeep Singh, Deepak Hooda, who made one trip with U-19s in 2013 and Ravi Bishnoi. So these games will help these players understand these conditions better.

But all things going into the World Cup haven’t been positive for Team India as they still are dealing with the injury concerns surrounding Deepak Hooda and Jasprit Bumrah,  who are currently at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru. Hooda was ruled out of the South Africa series because of a back injury. While Bumrah was taken out of the team citing back pain which kept him out of the Asia Cup.

But BCCI President Sourav Ganguly addressed that the Mumbai Indians pacer isn’t completely ruled out of the World Cup yet. “No. Bumrah is not out of the World Cup yet. Let's see what happens,” Ganguly told RevSportz in a video posted on its Twitter account. "Fingers crossed. I don't know (if he will travel to Australia). We will find out in 3-4 days. We have got our fingers crossed. Don't rule him out yet,” Ganguly said.
