The Men in Blue are taking on Asian rivals Afghanistan in their second match of the ODI World Cup 2023. The Hashmatullah Shahidi-led side won the toss earlier in the match and opted to bat first, putting up 273-run target for the Rohit Sharma & Co. While the match had its game, the limelight was around homeboy Virat Kohli and Afghanistan pacer Naveen-ul-Haq.

The two who last shared the field in the 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL), were back on the field at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. While the last meeting did not end well between them after a heated exchanged continued to spill the beans from both ends, the match between India and Afghanistan finally saw it conclude.
While the crowd chants began as soon as Naveen-ul-Haq came out to bat to the cheers and chants of Kohli…Kohli, the things continued as Virat faced Naveen in the second innings. However, the fiery fight came to an end when the two shared a hug in the middle. While the moment has since then gone viral on social media, Naveen-ul-Haq’s IPL franchise Lucknow Super Giants made the most of it as they shared pictures with a caption, “Navirat”.
Talking about the match, India registered a comfortable win over Afghanistan by 8 wickets to go to the second place in the points table. Rohit Sharma scored the fastest World Cup hundred, his 31st overall and seventh in ODI to break the 40-year-old record. While he was well supported by Ishan Kishan at the top of the order, who missed his half century by three runs, Virat Kohli thereafter helped the side seal the game by another half-century.
The Men in Blue will next take the field on Saturday, 14 October as they face Pakistan at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
