At the ATP 100 Tulln, Nagal has been on a magnificent run as he took down the top-seeded Spaniard Albert Ramos-Vinolas to enter the men's singles semifinals. Playing  Ramos-Vinolas for the third time, Nagal registered a 7-6, 6-3 win over world number on centre court.

2023 has been an incredible year for Sumit Nagal as after three pandemic- and injury-affect years, the Jhajjar native hadn't won an ATP Challenger title. But this year, Nagal has captured two this season so far and is eyeing his third ATP title. Nagal's second trophy came after defeating fifth-seeded Dalibor Svrcina 6-4, 7-5 in the final to win the ATP Tampere Open Challenger crown on the clay courts of Finland.

Talking about his return to top form after an injury lay-off, Nagal talked about gradually improving and playing every tournament till the end of the year. While speaking to Hindustan Times, Nagal said,   “I'm getting better and better on the court, getting more mature. In 2019, I played a whole season with a comfortable schedule where I got into many tournaments. This year, I started pretty late but right now I feel like I’m on the right track. Let’s see where I finish this year.”
