Inter Miami CF are a Major League Soccer (MLS) club in the United States of America, which has made a historic acquisition of Lionel Messi, the 7-time Ballon d’Or winner, who is going to leave French club Paris Saint-Germain at the end of this season. On June 7, Wednesday, the Argentine World Cup winner announced that he has decided to go to Miami to pursue the next stage of his footballing career while snubbing his boyhood club Barcelona, and Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal in the process.
It was on January 29, 2018, when Inter Miami got established as the 25th franchise in the MLS. But they started playing in the American League in the 2020 season. Jorge Mas majority owns the club, while its co-owner is the legendary English footballer David Beckham, who also acts as its president. DRV PNK Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, Florida is the venue where Inter Miami plays its home matches.
Currently, Inter Miami is the 11th most valuable football club in Major League Soccer at $600 million. The Florida-based club missed out on the 10th spot as they were marginally behind Charlotte FC, which is valued at $625 million. Moreover, it is also behind DC United, an MLS club managed by Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney, currently in fifth place with a value of $700 million.

Talking about the brief history of the club in the MLS, during the 2020 season, Inter Miami finished in 10th place in the Eastern Conference, while their overall league standing, including the Western Conference, was 19th. In the 2021 season, they were placed 11th in their conference and 20th overall. Meanwhile, last season, the Florida-based club were comparatively better than previous years as they got 6th place in their conference and 12th overall.
The first coach for Inter Miami in their short history was Diego Alonso, who stayed at the club for two seasons. He was succeeded by Phil Neville, the former Manchester United player, who was sacked recently, after lots of poor performances in the last few months. As of right now, Javier Morales, the Argentine, is the coach of Inter Miami on an interim basis.
