David Beckham, the former Manchester United star and current co-owner of Inter Miami, has expressed his opinion that the Glazers need to leave. Sheikh Jassim and Ratcliffe have both submitted their proposals to acquire United, but after multiple rounds of bidding and eight months, since the Glazers made their announcement, there is no resolution within sight which hampers Eric Ten Hag's plans for the transfer window.

The 48-year-old admitted that it's time for the Glazers to leave who have owned a majority stake in the club for 18 years. Beckham, who won six Premier League titles, two FA Cups, and a Champions League trophy with United, also hinted that he could play a role under new ownership.

Beckham told the Athletic, “It hasn’t been the greatest of times for Manchester United, on the field or off the field. Seeing Erik come in is a breath of fresh air. He has had some tough decisions to make but he has done it in the most elegant way and in a way where he has got the fans on his side.”

Speaking on the ownership situation he said, “Off the field, as a fan and ex-player, I just want it resolved. There has to be a decision [regarding the ownership]. Whoever is running your club, you want them to be passionate, be involved, make the right decisions, bring in the right players, and invest in the club.”

He continued, “Because the club does need investment, whether it’s the training facility, stadium, on the field… these kinds of big things need to be made and changes do need to happen, especially when you see the likes of Man City and what they’re doing.”

The Manchester United legend gave the example of Manchester City who are building for the future and said that United should look to do the same. He further admitted that the Glazers need to go because they have lost the fans' trust as he said, “I think so (that it's time for the Glazers to go). I think it’s purely because the fans want it. Once you lose the fans, especially at a club like Manchester United, it’s hard to get them back.”

When asked whether he could be involved in the new ownership he mentioned that he is focused on Inter Miami but left the door open for Manchester United. He said, “I have a lot going on here at the moment and my focus has purely been on Miami and everything that goes on in my business,' he said. But I haven't been approached and I suppose any involvement with Manchester United would mean the world to me, going forward. But who knows? We'll see what happens in the next few weeks or months.”

Manchester United fans and the squad are eagerly waiting on a decision from the Glazers as the saga has been going on for months. As of now, Sheik Jassim, the Qatari banker, wants full ownership of the Red Devils and is in competition with rival bidder Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who is looking for a majority stake which could see the Glazer family may remain at Old Trafford in some capacity. The delay has led to speculation that the Glazers are considering other options, including selling a minority stake in the club to investment groups while retaining overall control.
