Lalit Modi, the former IPL commissioner, has slammed the ICC for allegedly selling tickets for the India-Pakistan match in the T20 World Cup 2024 for an exorbitant price of $20,000 per seat. The 60-year-old spoke about how the upcoming international cricket tournament in the USA should be about game expansion and fan engagement, but ICC is looking to maximise their profits, he called them “International Crooks Council.”
Notably, the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 is the first of its kind international cricket tournament, set to happen in the USA, which is hosting it alongside the various Caribbean nations. Lalit Modi slams ICC for allegedly selling IND vs PAK T20 WC tickets for $20,000
In his latest post on the social media platform X, Lalit Modi made a claim that ICC are prioritising profits instead of growing the game of cricket in the USA with their price tickets for the India versus Pakistan match, set to be played at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York on June 9. The former RCA President also posted a few edited screenshots to drive home his point.
His post read, “Shocked to learn that @ICC is selling tickets for Diamond Club at $20000 per seat for the #indvspak WC game. The WC in the US is for game expansion & fan engagement, not a means to make profits on gate collections. $2750 for a ticket It’s just #notcricket #intlcouncilofcrooks”.
As per the ICC, the prices of tickets for the India versus Pakistan match in the T20 World Cup 2024 range from $300 to $10,000. However, as per the report from USA Today, the ticket prices for this match have gone through the roof in the resale market.
