Delhi Capitals head coach Ricky Ponting seemed unhappy with the impact of substitution players from Rajasthan Royals in the IPL 2024 clash. Both sides locked horns on March 28, Thursday, at the Sawai Man Singh Stadium, Jaipur. During the game, chaos erupted in the visitors’ dug-out when Ponting and Sourav Ganguly engaged in a debate with the umpires as RR fielded five overseas players in the match.

Just before DC kicked off their innings, umpire Nitin Menon was seen approaching Warner and engaging in a conversation. Later Jos Buttler went to Menon and had a chat. It was just then that Rovman Powell came into bat and an Indian player got off the field, and the entire drama left Ponting furious. Just a few minutes later, the fourth umpire took a sheet of paper and went to the DC dugout to make his point.  Check the top betting trends on the   best betting apps in India   and sites.

Chaos happened after RR played Powell, Trent Boult, Nandre Burger, Jos Buttler, and Shimron Hetmyer. Notably, there were three foreign players on the field and suddenly the DC coach raised an issue when Powell came in place of an Indian fielder. The 2008 winners swapped a foreigner for a foreigner when they got Burger instead of Hetmyer.

What does the IPL 2024 Playing Conditions rule say?

RULE 1.2.5

Each team may not name more than 4 Overseas players (as defined in the IPL Player Regulations) in its starting eleven for any match.

RULE 1.2.6

A team may not have more than 4 Overseas players on the field of play at any time during any Match. Thus, if the team names a maximum 4 Overseas players in its starting XI, an Overseas player may only take the field as a substitute fielder if the player that he is replacing is an Overseas player. If the team names less than 4 Overseas players in its starting XI, Overseas players may only enter the field of play as substitute fielders to the extent that by doing so, they do not take the total number of Overseas players representing that team on the field to more than 4.

Talking about the match, the DC captain won the toss and invited the hosts to bat first. RR batter Riyan Parag played a brilliant inning of 84* runs off 45 balls and set a target of 185 runs for their rivals to chase.
