Mumbai Indians (MI), who haven’t performed to expectations in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, have got something positive to cheer up their fans as pacer Jasprit Bumrah has joined the squad before their next match at the Wankhede Stadium on April 7. MI lost their third game in the competition after losing to Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by 12 runs at the Ekana Cricket Stadium on April 4. Currently, Hardik Pandya and his men are in eighth spot on the points tally but their fans will expect the team to amass courage and lift themselves.
Bumrah’s old back issue returned during the final Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 against Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG), played from January 3 to 5, 2025. He had been undergoing rehab at the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru to gain complete fitness. According to ESPNcricinfo, the speedster was close to taking the final round of fitness tests. The 31-year-old will be allowed to serve MI in the ongoing T20 extravaganza after getting clearance from BCCI’s medical squad based in Bengaluru. In the latest video shared by MI on their offical X account, Sanjana Ganesan, the ICC host, lended her voice to announce the return of her husband Jasprit Bumrah to the squad while being accompanied by their son Angad.
MI will host confident RCB in the 20th match of IPL 2025
MI will be taking on Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on April 7 at the Wankhede Stadium. In their maiden home game of the 2025 season, Mumbai looked extraordinary against defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and emerged victorious by eight wickets at the iconic venue.
RCB performed superbly in their away matches against KKR and Chennai Super Kings (CSK). In both games, they outclassed the hosts to grab four crucial points. However, Bengaluru will have to be wary of the fact that their last triumph against Mumbai at the Wankhede Stadium came under Virat Kohli’s captaincy in 2015.
