Indian wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan made a significant return to red-ball cricket as he was seen playing for India C in the Duleep Trophy 2024-25. The 26-year-old with his superb 111-run knock for India C in the first inning, reignited talks of his return in the Indian setup after he was snubbed from BCCI's central contract, along with Shreyas Iyer.

Seeing his performance in the recently concluded second round of the Duleep Trophy 2024-25, reports reveal that Ishan Kishan could make a return in the T20I squad. According to recent reports, if the BCCI decides to manage Rishabh Pant’s workload and rest him in the upcoming three-match T20I series against Bangladesh, Ishan Kishan could make a return.

Notably, Ishan Kishan was last seen in action in international cricket during the third T20I against Australia in 2023. He was then named in the squad for South Africa tour, but withdrew after not being named in the playing XI, citing “mental fatigue”. This decision of the Jharkhand cricketer landed him in hot waters, later getting snubbed from the central contract.

The 26-year-old, who scored a 126-ball 111 in the second round of Duleep Trophy 2024-25, returned after his prolonged absence from red-ball cricket. While he had been out for several months, his absence from the Ranji Trophy campaign for Jharkhand got him in news for wrong reasons. Recently, he silenced his critics, putting up a brilliant performance in the domestic tournament in Anantapur.

After his century knock, the wicketkeeper-batter took to Instagram to share a two-word message which read, “Unfinished business” supporting it with pictures from his knock. This two-word strong message got social media ablaze, hinting at his determination to make a strong case for his return to the Indian side. 

India C draws match with India B in second round of Duleep Trophy 2024-25

Ruturaj Gaikwad-led India C ended the match against India B in a draw at the Rural Development Trust Stadium in Anantapur. Anshul Kamboj ran through India B’s batting on fourth day of the final inning as he registered his best figures in First-Class cricket. Kamboj picked up 8/69 to bundle out India B for 332 in the first inning and helped India C take a massive 197-run lead. In the second innings, India C took their lead ahead to 321 before both captains decided to shake hands and end the match in a draw. 

After the conclusion of the second round, India C currently sit at the top of the points table with nine points from two matches, while India B are second with seven points.
