English popstar Ed Sheeran was over the moon as his favourite football club, Ipswich Town, completed promotion to the Premier League after finishing second in the Championship behind Leicester City. The Tractor Boys took down Huddersfield Town on the final day of the regular season to seal the second spot and avoid Playoffs.
Behind Leicester and Ipswich, Leeds, Southampton, West Bromwich Albion and Norwich City will move to the playoffs for the final 3rd promotion to the Premier League. With this promotion, the Kierran Mckenna-led side became the first team since Southampton to achieve double promotions.

A very, very proud one for everyone involved: Kieran Mckenna
After Ipswich's win over Huddersfield, Kieran Mckenna spoke about what this promotion means for him. He said, “It means a lot, mostly seeing how much it means to everyone - the players, the supporters. To be one of the leaders in that is absolutely massive so it’s a wonderful day, a very, very proud one for everyone involved."
“We’ve done it through an incredible amount of effort and sacrifice, support from a lot of people and it’s a wonderful achievement. I’m sure it will sink in in a couple of days. It’s going to be a great challenge, of course, a lot of work to do in the football club. For me on a personal level, it’s going to be a great challenge and one I’m looking forward to.”
