Former Indian captain Virat Kohli concluded India’s disappointing Asia Cup campaign with a magical hundred as he smashed 122 runs off 61 balls. Kohli ended his century drought of around three years. Kohli in this three-year period hasn’t been in the best form and hence took a break before the Asia Cup 2022.
After the match, Kohli and India captain Rohit Sharma, who was rested for the match, discussed Kohli’s century who further delved into his thoughts about the comeback and the support presented to him by Rohit and the team management.
But with both players being known for their witty and fun-loving attitudes some amount of humour was bound to sprout up as immediately after Rohit’s question, Virat could not stop smiling and also pulled his captain’s leg for conversing in pure Hindi.
Rohit Sharma said, "Virat, bahot bahot badhaayi aapko, aapka 71st hundred. Poori India wait kar rahi thi, I am sure aap zyada wait kar rahe the. Aapne jo innings kheli usmein kaafi kuch dekhne ko mila, aapne gaps achhe dhoondhe, shots achhe lagaaye, toh apni innings ke baare mein bataaiye, kaisi shuruaat huyi, aur uske baad kaisi thi feeling," Rohit said.
(Translation: Many congratulations to you on your 71st ton. The entire country was waiting and I am sure even you were waiting. In today's knock, we saw you were finding the gaps nicely, playing good strokes. Take us through your knock and also tell us how is the feeling.)
To this Virat Kohli replied, "Itni shuddh hindi bola raha hai mere saath pehli baar (For the first time he is talking to me in pure hindi). " He then addressed the team management role in his come back to international as they were constant contact with him which led to a lot of improvements.
He then addressed how this break from cricket which helped him come back with a lot more excitement. “The vision was clear from management and Rohit, given the space and it helped me relax and play with lots of ease. Even when I came back, I was very relaxed and excited to play,” Kohli said.
