On Friday, September 27, the first day’s play of the second Test match between India and Bangladesh at the Green Park in Kanpur was called off early due to incessant rains in the area. After being put into bat first, Bangladesh had reached 107/3 in 35 overs, following which the rains made their arrival in Kanpur during the second session, and once the play was abandoned for the day, the fans on the social media platform X were in a sombre and disappointed mood.
For the unversed, the rains in the morning had caused the toss to be delayed by an hour on day one, and after Rohit Sharma, the captain of India, won it, he decided to field first. Zakir Hasan was too cautious in his approach in the first session before he was dismissed by Akash Deep without troubling the scorers after playing 26 balls, getting him caught by Yashasvi Jaiswal in the gully.

Just a couple of overs later, Akash Deep trapped Shadman Islam lbw on DRS for 26 off 34, giving India their second breakthrough of the morning session. After 26 overs were bowled in the morning session, the rains showed up, but the second session’s play started on time, which saw Ravichandran Ashwin trap Najmul Hossain Shanto for 31 off 57, breaking a key stand of 51-run between Bangladesh captain and Mominul Haque.
But, around 2 PM in the afternoon, the incessant rains came to the Green Park in Kanpur, and just an hour later, the officials decided to suspend play for the day.
