South Africa claimed the top spot in the points table after their one-wicket over Pakistan. While it was the first win for the Proteas Men in a World Cup match in seven attempts since 1999, for Pakistan it was the first time that they have faced four consecutive losses in World Cups.

For the Proteas, Keshav Maharaj hit the winning runs and thumped his chest after winning it for the side, yelling “come on” a couple of time. Post the convincing win, Maharaj took to Instagram, sharing his joy post the win. “In God I Trust what a special result by the boys, awesome to see the performances from @shamsi90 & @aidenmarkram”, he wrote concluding, writing “Jai Shree Hanuman”.
Talking about the match 26 of the ICC ODI Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023, Babar Azam-led side won the toss and opted to bat first. The side posted 270 at the loss of ten wickets in 46.4 overs with the skipper and Saud Shakeel being the only players reaching the 50-run mark. However, the Proteas Men chased the total in 47.2 overs with Aiden Markram scoring 91 off 93 balls.
South Africa now have five wins in their six matches and will next take on 2019 finalists New Zealand at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune on November 1.
