The auction for the first-ever edition of Cricket South Africa’s T20 League, SA20 took place on 19 September. All six franchises including Joburg Super Kings took part in the player bidding process. The Chennai Super Kings-owned franchise, Joburg Super Kings made interesting purchases, as has been their trademark since their establishment.
Having roped in Faf du Plessis, Maheesh Theekshana, Romario Shepherd, and Gerald Coetzee as their four pre-acquisitions, JBSK started the auction with a purse amount of 20.74 million ZAR. They did not make any purchases in the first set that had six players. JBSK went after Rassie van der Dussen and Marco Jansen but lost them to MI Cape Town and Sunrisers Easter Cape, respectively.
They opened their account at the auction by securing the services of English batter Harry Brook who was roped in for 2.10 M ZAR.
