With the talks around Indian Premier League (IPL) retentions intensifying, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) captain and wicketkeeper-batter, KL Rahul met the owner of the franchise, Sanjiv Goenka. The Indian keeper-batter visited the franchise’s Kolkata office on Monday, August 26 for a meeting with the owner, pictures of which are going viral on social media.
However, the specifications of the discussion among the two remain undisclosed, but according to reports citing Cricbuzz, the meeting was first formal interaction between KL Rahul and Sanjiv Goenka since their animated conversation after LSG’s loss against SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow during IPL 2024.

The meeting, which was held at Goenka’s office on Judges Court Road, Alipore, Kolkata, reportedly lasted for an hour. According to Cricbuzz, the meeting was centered around the team composition and the potential retentions with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) yet to confirm the number of player retentions ahead of IPL 2025 mega auction.
Although, there were rumours of KL Rahul joining his former IPL franchise Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), the news continues to remain unconfirmed as of now. Speaking of the player retentions and the Right To Match (RTM), the BCCI is scheduled to share an update on the several key points addressed during the meeting earlier this month in the coming few days, seeing the mega auction ahead, later this year.
