With the conclusion of a thrilling India-Pakistan clash in the T20 World Cup 2024, the details of the next clash between these arch-rivals have surfaced. These south-east Asian giants are next slated to battle it out in next year's Champions Trophy in Pakistan where they are set to go head-to-head at the iconic Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
The 2025 Champions Trophy has been under the scanner for multiple reasons but the biggest one has been Team India not coming to play in Pakistan, due to the country's geo-political clashes with the host nation. But as per Cricbuzz, Lahore has emerged as the venue for the big-ticket clash match under Pakistan Cricket Board's proposed schedule.
Lahore likely to host India-Pakistan clash in Champions Trophy 2025
This is, of course, will go through with approval from the Government of India to play in Pakistan. If the permission isn't granted the tournament may go ahead with a hybrid model, like the one used in last year's Asia Cup. For the Champions Trophy, UAE could be the venue for the India games. Though the PCB have been reportedly told to go ahead with its preparations.
Lahore, Karachi and Rawalpindi shortlisted as venues for Champions Trophy
Further talking about the Champions Trophy, the PCB is set to go forward with Lahore, Karachi and Rawalpindi for the 20-day competition. Lahore is set to be the designated venue for the India games. As per the reported schedule, Lahore will host seven games, Rawalpindi five and three will be played in Karachi.
The port city is scheduled to host the opening match on February 19 and then one of the two semifinals with the other being played in Rawalpindi. As per the proposed schedule, the final will be played on March 9 in Lahore and the second semifinal if Team India qualifies
