After winning the 2020 NBA championship, LeBron James and Anthony Davis' Los Angeles Lakers clinched their first NBA title with a perfect run in the inaugural NBA In-Season Tournament championship, winning the final against the Indiana Pacers in Las Vegas. The Lakers, who are the joint-most successful team in the NBA with 17 titles, will honor the duo of LeBron and Davis by adding another banner at Crypto.com Arena to recognize the inaugural NBA In-Season tournament victory.
LeBron was awarded the NBA Cup MVP while the 38-year-old along with Anthony Davis were named in the 2023 All-Tournament Team for their spectacular performances in both the group stage and the knockout rounds of the inaugural NBA Cup.
While Anthony Davis led the 2023 NBA In-Season Tournament in total rebounds (102) and was second in the total blocks (20), LeBron led all the players in most field goals (67) throughout the tournament. The Lakers took to social media to announce that the franchise will be honoring the duo by hanging a banner during their home game against the New York Knicks on December 18.
In the Lakers' 7-0 run in the inaugural NBA Cup, LeBron averaged 26.4 PPG, 8.0 RPG, and 7.0 APG while shooting 56.8% from the field and 60.6% from beyond the arc. On the other hand, Davis registered 23.3 PPG, 14.6 RPG, 3.7 APG, 1.0 steals, and 2.9 blocks per game while shooting 52.5% from the field and 79.6% from the free-throw line.
2023 NBA In-Season Tournament runners-up, Indiana Pacers' guard Tyrese Haliburton, Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo, and Suns forward Kevin Durant were named in the rest of the all-tournament team.
