Many of the greatest sportspersons across the world will gather under one roof when the 25th Laureus World Sports Awards takes place in Madrid on April 22, 2024. This time, the prestigious awards will take place at Palacio de Cibeles, a remarkable structure in Madrid.
In the 24th Laureus Awards that took place in Paris, France, FIFA World Cup 2022 winners Argentina swapped the major awards. The Best Sportsperson award was honoured to Argentina captain Lionel Messi, who helped La Albiceleste to lift their maiden World Cup trophy after their 1986 triumph under Maradona.
The Best Sportswoman award was presented to Jamaican track and field sprinter Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce and Argentina bagged the honor of the best sports team. Tennis-ace Roger Federer has won the Laureus Award the most by any athlete or player as he was honoured five times.
