Coming to bat after winning the toss, Pakistan lost their first wicket in the form of Saim Ayub (4 of 10) at the score of 8 runs in 3.4 overs. After that, Abdullah Shafique and skipper Shan Masood took the innings further, and put up a partnership of 253 runs for the second wicket. Shafique got out after scoring 102 runs off 184 balls with 10 fours and two sixes. After a few overs, Masood also took his wicket after a well-made 151 runs from 177 balls, hitting 13 fours and two sixes. Pakistan finished day 1 at a score of 328 runs for the loss of 4 wickets.
