Defending Super Bowl champions Los Angeles Rams are getting to trade former starting running back Cam Akers, according to reports. Sources say, Akers, is set to miss the upcoming Rams game because of personal reasons so that the team can deal with his situation by finding a possible trade.

Further reports have said that Akers has philosophical and football-related differences with head coach Sean McVay, so the coach has left Akers' future open, and hence the third-year pro could be on his way out. The LA-based franchise believes that the RB has the ability to draw significant trade interest, and the team is open to making a deal for the right value.

NFL insider Ian Rapoport reported on these updates and posted, “[t]he belief is that he’ll draw significant trade interest, and the team is open to a deal for the right value.” That’s obviously a line the Rams are pushing, so that they won’t have to just give Akers away or, worst-case scenario, cut him.”

As the Super Bowl champions made Akers inactive for the game against the Panthers, Sean McVay, on Friday, talked about the situation and said, "I would say it's more like we're dealing with things internally. This is kind of unchartered territory and I think the biggest thing is, out of respect for the situation, we want to keep it internally."

The issues between Akers and McVay started after his two fumbles against the Tampa bay Buccaneers in the playoffs last season. These mistakes pushed his situation downward and led to frustrations from all parties.

Since then, as per sources, the Akers has caused no problems inside the locker room. Replacing Aker, the Rams are set to use running backs Malcolm Brown and Darrell Henderson against Carolina, along with recently undrafted rookie Ronnie Rivers, who has impressed in recent games.
