Lucknow Super Giants have been performing well this season despite injury concerns and the absence of key players. They are currently fourth in the IPL 2023 points table and have a great chance to qualify for the playoffs. The Krunal Pandya-led side are set to wear a jersey inspired by the historic Indian football club Mohun Bagan for their Eden Gardens trip on Saturday, May 20.
Lucknow Super Giants owner Sanjiv Goenka also owns the Kolkata-based football club, Mohun Bagan so it is assumed that it will be a tribute to the Mariners, who won the ISL 2022-23 title. This move might sway a few KKR fans to support LSG at the Eden Gardens as Kolkata have a very slim chance of qualifying for the playoff stages.
There is another connection between the City of Joy and LSG as team mentor Gautam Gambhir captained KKR to their two IPL trophies. The fans were equally divided on MS Dhoni's visit as the stadium was painted yellow offering a tribute to the legend. Owner Sanjiv Goenka hopes that this move will garner some support for his franchise at one of the most iconic stadiums in the world.
LSG will rock maroon and green coloured jerseys, which are the colours of Mohun Bagan, in their last league game against KKR at the Eden Gardena. The club has been the heart and soul of the city for many years as it is one of the few clubs in the country with such a massive fan following. Mohun Bagan won the Indian Super League (ISL) title last season after beating Bengaluru FC via a penalty shootout in the final. Now the club has been renamed Mohun Bagan Super Giants for the upcoming season.

As for the qualification scenario for Lucknow, they need to win both of their remaining games to seal their spot in the playoffs. A win against Kolkata at the Eden Gardens on Saturday, May 20 will certainly help.
