Manchester City are reportedly considering an option to sign Icelandic Orri Oskarsson as back-up for star striker Erling Haaland in the latter stages of the ongoing summer transfer window. The staff at the English champions are monitoring the progress of FC Copenhagen striker, who is priced at just under £17m, but manager Pep Guardiola hasn’t given a green signal to the move yet.
Notably, Orri Oskarsson, who is 19 years old, has already scored seven goals in 11 matches for FC Copenhagen in the ongoing season compared to his 15 goals in 41 matches in the last campaign. Standing at 6’ 1” tall, the Icelandic player is a rising star in the world of football, and apart from Manchester City, as reported by the Athletic, the other clubs like Porto and Real Sociedad are keen on signing him as well.
In one of his six appearances for FC Copenhagen in the UEFA Champions League last season, Orri Oskarsson got an assist against Manchester City at the Etihad. But despite that, FC Copenhagen suffered a 3-1 defeat in the round of 16 second leg versus Manchester City.
Apart from Orri Oskarsson, Manchester City are also looking at Kyogo Furuhashi of Celtic as one of the contenders to possibly back-up Erling Haaland in the ongoing season of the Premier League. Furthermore, Pep Guardiola is reportedly not fretting about securing the services of a striker currently despite a few injury concerns for their star striker in recent times.
