Manchester City star, Erling Haaland has been voted as the Player of the Month for August following an extraordinary start to the 2024-25 season with the club. The 24-year-old has scored seven goals in just three games for Manchester City, which is a record for the most goals ever scored in a team’s first three matches of a Premier League season. Haaland's amazing form also makes him one of the top contenders for the Golden Boot.
Haaland voted Player of the Month Award for August 2024
Haaland topped the shortlist that included Bryan Mbeumo (Brentford), Amadou Onana (Aston Villa), Cole Palmer (Chelsea), Mohamed Salah (Liverpool), Danny Welbeck (Brighton), and Arsenal's David Raya and Bukayo Saka. Haaland has been outstanding in this season. He scored hat-tricks against Ipswich Town and West Ham United, along with a crucial goal in the season opener against Chelsea. He is the only player after Paul Jewell to score multiple hat-tricks in a team’s opening three matches.

Haaland opened up after his Player of the Month award. "I am delighted to have won this award so early in the season and would like to thank everyone who voted for me," Haaland said. "I am also very grateful to my teammates, the coaches, and staff for helping to make it happen. August was a brilliant month for the team, and I am proud to have played an important part in that. To have scored seven goals last month in three matches is great, but I will continue to work hard and improve my game,” he said.
"We have given ourselves a great foundation to build on now going into a busy period with the Champions League and Carabao Cup starting. I hope I can continue to help the team get the wins and keep us pushing in all the competitions," he further added. With his current number of goals, Haaland makes himself an early favorite to win the Golden Boot ahead of the other top contenders like Mohamed Salah, Luis Diaz, and Noni Madueke, who have each scored three goals so far.
Now Manchester City will face Brentford FC on 14 September 2024 and Inter Milan on 18 September in the UEFA Champions League, Haaland’s impressive form will be crucial for the team.
In addition, Fabian Hurzeler was also named Manager of the Month for August 2024. The 31-year-old has done well, taking over from Roberto De Zerbi, helping Brighton win two games and drawn one in their first three matches.
