Manchester United defender, Harry Maguire on Tuesday, October 8 confirmed an injury which he sustained during their Premier League clash against Aston Villa on October 6. The 31-year-old also confirmed that he will remain out for a few weeks, adding to the growing list of injuries in the United camp.

The centre-back went down holding his calf in the first half during United’s goalless draw against Aston Villa on Sunday. The English football was later substituted at half-time, leaving the Villa Park with a protective boot. 

Maguire to be out of action for a few weeks

Taking to social media, the 31-year-old English professional footballer said, "Frustrated to pick up an injury at the weekend, will be a few weeks on the sidelines for me, but I'll come back stronger.” It is to be noted that Harry Maguire has featured nine times in the Reds so far this season. Out of the nine games, Harry started in six games, while making three appearances off the bench. 

With injury to Maguire, he joins the long list of injured players including Noussair Mazraoui, Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo. In the meantime, Erik ten Hag’s central defensive options include De Ligt, Jonny Evans, Lisandro Martinez and Victor Lindelof.  United have crucial fixtures in both domestic and European competitions after the international break. The team will resume Premier League action against Brentford on October 19, followed by a crucial Europa League clash against Fenerbahce on October 25.
