A 2003-04 Upper Deck Ultimate Collection Logoman card which was signed by the NBA great Michael Jordan fetched whopping $2.9 million in a recent auction. The card had unique 1-of-1 number and it became the most ever paid Jordan card after getting a whopping price at the auction organised by marketplace Goldin on Sunday, June 2. Notably, Logoman cards are typically limited to one copy and feature a NBA logo patch from a game-used jersey.
Several resources said that the card was the first Jordan Logoman that featured a Chicago Bulls jersey. The card also received an ‘Authentic’ grade from card grader PSA and had a Michael Jordan autograph. While promoting the auction, Goldin founder and CEO Ken Goldin had repeatedly called it ‘long lost’.
This was the first time that the card was available for public auction, with its whereabouts unconfirmed until it appeared with card grader PSA in 2022. Notably, the record for a sports card belongs to the 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle which was sold for $12.6 million in August 2022. On the other hand, that for the most expensive sports memorabilia of all time belongs to one of Jordan’s jerseys he wore in Game 1 of the 1998 "Last Dance" NBA Finals which was sold for $10.1 million in September 2022.
During the Jordan card auction, Goldin said, "Words can simply not express the historical significance and the importance of this card. It is, without a doubt, the single best and the single most valuable Michael Jordan card -- and the most sought-after -- that has ever been produced."
