Mohammad Yousuf, the former Pakistan cricketer, has announced his resignation from the selector role for the Men in Maroon due to personal reasons. Following his post on the social media platform X, confirming the big news of his voluntary resignation, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) released a statement to thank him for his services before stating that he will be focusing on other key responsibilities within the governing body.
Notably, Mohammad Yousuf will stay as the batting coach at the PCB National High Performance Centre after he won’t be part of the Pakistan selection committee, where he was one of the five remaining voting members. Earlier, after the disappointing T20 World Cup 2024 for Pakistan, Wahab Riaz and Abdul Razzaq were removed from the seven member selection committee, not replaced, which led to their votes being given to the captains and coaches respectively across formats.
I am proud to have contributed to the growth and success of Pakistan Cricket: Mohammad Yousuf
In his post on the official X account, Mohammad Yousuf announced his resignation from the Pakistan selection committee before talking about how it was a “profound privilege” to serve the national team. He wrote, “I announce my resignation as a selector for the Pakistan cricket team due to personal reasons. Serving this incredible team has been a profound privilege, and I am proud to have contributed to the growth and success of Pakistan Cricket. I have immense faith in the talent and spirit of our players, and Wish our team all the best as they continue to strive for greatness.
The statement from PCB confirmed the resignation of Mohammad Yousuf from the selection committee and the excerpts of it read, “The PCB expresses its sincere gratitude to Mohammad Yousuf for his invaluable contributions during his tenure as a selection committee member. Yousuf will continue to play a pivotal role at the PCB, sharing his extensive knowledge and experience as the batting coach at the High Performance Centre.”
Moreover, Mohammad Yousuf was the head coach of the Pakistan U-19 team, which finished in third place in the ICC U-19 Cricket World Cup 2024 in South Africa.
