In the fast-paced nature of T20 cricket, getting out for a duck (dismissed without scoring) is always a risk and the PSL is no exception. With the league featuring world-class bowlers and tricky conditions at times, even the best batters have fallen victim to early dismissals. Some famous batters, despite their class, have collected multiple ducks due to their aggressive approach. Interestingly, players like Kamran Akmal and Sharjeel Khan, known for explosive starts, also rank high on the list of most ducks simply because they take risks right from ball one. In this article, we will take a look at the players who have been dismissed for the greatest number of ducks in the PSL.
At number one we have all-rounder Imad Wasim, who has been dismissed for 12 ducks. Imad initially played for Karachi Kings from 2016 to 2023, and in 2024, he joined Islamabad United. A left-arm orthodox spinner and a left-handed batsman, Imad is known for his economical bowling and ability to anchor the lower-middle order. Despite his contributions, he holds the record for the most ducks in PSL history, with several coming during his tenure with Karachi Kings.
At number two we have Wahab Riaz, who has been dismissed for 10 ducks and has been a stalwart for Peshawar Zalmi throughout his PSL career from 2016 to 2023. Renowned for his pace and aggression, Wahab is the leading wicket-taker in the league. However, his batting record includes ten ducks, often resulting from his position as a tail-ender facing challenging situations. At number three we have opener Kamran Akmal, who has represented Peshawar Zalmi from 2016 to 2022 with 8 ducks. An aggressive opener, Kamran has been one of the top run-scorers in PSL history. His attacking approach sometimes led to early dismissals, contributing to his tally of eight ducks.
At number four we have the league’s current top scorer Babar Azam who started with Islamabad United, then moved to Karachi Kings, and as of 2024, plays for Peshawar Zalmi. Despite his batting prowess, he has recorded seven ducks, a relatively low number given his extensive innings.
Lastly, we have Shaheen Shah Afridi who has been a key player for Lahore Qalandars since 2018 with 7 ducks. Primarily known for his lethal bowling, Shaheen's batting opportunities are limited and often come in high-pressure situations, leading to seven ducks in his PSL career.
