After a duck in his debut game, young Indian batter Abhishek Sharma came back brilliantly in his second T20I match against Zimbabwe at Harare Sports Club on July 7th. With 100 runs off just 47 balls, Abhishek became the tenth Indian player and the fourth youngest player from the country to complete a century in the format.
Former cricketer Suresh Raina was the first player to score a T20I hundred for India. The left-hander reached the triple-digit mark in a match against South Africa during the 2010 T20 World Cup in Saint Lucia on May 2, 2010. Rohit Sharma has scored the most T20 hundreds for India. The opening batter has smashed five centuries in the format and has scored the fastest T20I hundred for India, which came off just 35 balls.
Young batter Shubman Gill holds the record for highest individual T20I score for India, as the opener smashed 126 off 63 balls against New Zealand in Ahmedabad on February 1, 2023. Yashasvi Jaiswal, however, remains the youngest player to hit a T20I hundred for India. His century came off 49 deliveries against Nepal during the 2023 Asian Games.

Indian wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul comes third in the list to score most T20I hundreds for India. The right-hander scored his first century, also his highest score of 110*(51) in the format in a match against West Indies in Florida on August 27, 2016. However, his innings went in vain as India lost that game by just one-run while chasing a target of 246. Two years later, Rahul finally took India to the finishing line with a match-winning knock of 101*(54) runs against England in Stretford on July 3, 2018.
2. Suryakumar Yadav - 4 Centuries
One of India’s best batters in the T20I format currently, Suryakumar Yadav has already smashed four T20I hundreds for India since his debut in 2021. His first T20I hundred for India came against England at Trent Bridge Cricket Ground in Nottinghamshire on July 10, 2022. The right-hander smashed 117(55) in that game, which is also his highest score in the format.

India’s former T20I captain, Rohit Sharma has also scored the most hundreds for India in the shortest format. The opening batter has scored five T20I centuries. However, his knock couldn't help India as they lost the game by 17 runs.

Rohit Sharma made his best T20I score for India in a match against Afghanistan at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on January 17, 2024. The Indian opener smashed an unbeaten 121 runs off 69 balls which included 11 fours and eight sixes as India posted 212/4 and went on to win the match in a Super Over.

Virat Kohli’s only T20I hundred for India came against Afghanistan during the 2022 Asia Cup in Dubai on September 8, 2022. Coming out as an opening batter, Kohli scored an unbeaten 122 runs off 61 balls, hitting 12 fours and six sixes, helping India post 212/2 on board. The Men in Blue eventually went on to win the match comfortably by 101 runs.
2. Ruturaj Gaikwad - 123*(57)
Ruturaj Gaikwad came second in the list for his unbeaten 123 run-knock off 57 balls which included 13 fours and seven sixes in a match against Australia at Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati in November 2023. With the help of his knock, India posted a total of 222 runs with a loss of six wickets. However, Glenn Maxwell also replied with a hundred as Australia chased the winning target in a last-ball thriller.

The highest T20I score for India belongs to Shubman Gill for his fiery knock against New Zealand at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on February 1, 2023. Gill smashed an unbeaten 126 runs off 63 balls, hitting 12 fours and seven sixes as India posted a mammoth 234 runs at the loss of four wickets. After that, the bowlers also did their job well, bowling the Kiwis out for just 66 runs and won the game by a big margin of 168 runs.
