After the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) confirmed India and Bangladesh as the hosts of the 2025 and 2027 editions of the Men’s Asia Cup, the venues of the later two editions have also been more or less confirmed. The ACC while announcing the base price for media rights, revealed the venues of the upcoming editions.
The flagship event of the ACC, which is the Men’s Asia Cup, will be held in India for the first time since late 1990. However, the tournament will mark its return in the Indian subcontinent after 35 years, it will be played in the T20 format. In 2027, the tournament will move to Bangladesh in the ODI format.
Pakistan to host Asia Cup in 2029; Sri Lanka handed hosting rights for 2031 edition
After successful completion of the 2025 and 2027 edition, the next edition, which will be played in the shortest format will move to Pakistan before Sri Lanka gets to welcome Asia’s best in ODI format for the 2031 edition of the tournament, as reported by Cricbuzz. Moreover, during the next four editions of the Asia Cup, there is an expectation of 13 matches happening per tournament, with India versus Pakistan being the key clash.
ACC sets Asia Cup media rights base price at $170 million
The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has set a base price of $170 million for the media rights of the upcoming four editions of the Asia Cup, in an eight-year period from 2024 to 2031. There are global television, digital, and audio rights up for grabs for various Asia Cup events in both men’s and women’s cricket, including the senior, U-19, and Emerging team tournaments, with the auction scheduled to happen on November 1.
Furthermore, the winner of the media rights of the Asia Cup will be determined through an e-auction, which is going to make it a fair and transparent process for all the parties involved after they submit their technical bids on October 30 in Dubai.
