Former India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni registered a criminal case against his ex-business partners after being duped and facing losses of ₹15 crore. The case has been filed against Mihir Diwakar and Soumya Vishwash of Aarka Sports and Management Limited in a Ranchi court over a cricket academy deal in 2017. Diwakar signed a deal with the former India cricketer but didn’t stick to the terms that were mentioned in the agreement.

As per the reports by Business Today, Aarka Sports was obligated to pay a franchise fee as well as share profits as it was mentioned in the agreement, but the company failed to do so. Several attempts were made but Aarka Sports didn’t honour the terms mentioned in the contract, compelling the cricketer to send legal notices and revoking the authority letter granted to Aarka Sports in 2021.

According to Dhoni’s lawyer Dayanand Singh, the cricketer was deceived and cheated by Aarka Sports, which resulted in a ₹15 crore loss. The reports further state that Dhoni’s friend Simant Lohani, popularly known as Chittu, also filed a complaint stating that he was threatened and abused by Mihir Diwarkar after they took legal action against Aarka Sports.

Notably, the 2011 World Cup-winning captain recently returned to Ranchi after spending the New Year holidays in Dubai. The Chennai Super Kings captain was joined by wicketkeeper batter Rishabh Pant, who is currently working on his recovery following a fatal accident he met in December 2022. Coming back to Dhoni, he will lead Chennai Super Kings for probably the last time in the IPL 2024 and would want to draw curtains on his IPL career with his sixth trophy.
