Mahendra Singh Dhoni is highly regarded as the most successful skipper in Indian cricket. The wicket-keeper batsman recently created a lot of buzz on social media after his pictures of landing in Chennai ahead of IPL's mega-auction went viral. Dhoni was widely applauded on social media by his fans for taking his job seriously as he reached Chennai on time to brainstorm over the strategies related to IPL bidding.

Dhoni's fan following is considered immense in the country, and his fans always stay eager to take a glimpse of him. Meanwhile, Dhoni on Thursday treated his fans with the first look of his graphic novel title Atharva: The Origin. The novel is based on Ramesh Thamilmani's work and is a mythological sci-fi web series. Dhoni Entertainment backs the web series. In the web series, Dhoni's avatar is seen donning the look of a warrior's leader with long blonde hair and carrying a weapon to kill the demons around. In a minute-long teaser, Dhoni is seen battling out against demons. Indeed, the teaser creates a lot of excitement amongst cricket fans to witness their favourite cricketer in a never seen avatar.

Notably, Dhoni's wife Sakshi is the managing director of Dhoni Entertainment, and speaking about the series, she regarded it as a "thrilling series." She added, "We would like to ensure that we execute all the aspects of this universe and bring out every character and story to the screen, with as much precision as possible. Web-series fit our purpose better than adapting it into a feature film." The new age graphic novel was announced in 2020 as an unpublished book by debutant author Ramesh Thamilmani. The mythological story explores the journey of a mysterious Aghori who has been captured at a high tech facility. Atharva: The Origin is not the first such adventure by the couple, as Dhoni Entertainment previously sponsored the documentary series Roar of the Lion, which was released on Disney+Hotstar in 2019.

Dhoni will be leading Chennai Super Kings in the upcoming IPL season and has been among the three most preferred players for the franchise. In November last year, CSK revealed the names of its four retained players. Jadeja was confirmed as its first-choice player for Rs. 16 crores, while Dhoni was second for Rs. 12 crores. England all-rounder Moeen Ali and India's Ruturaj Gaikwad were the remaining two players retained by CSK for IPL 2022 for Rs. 8 crore and Rs. 4 crores, respectively.
