On Thursday, September 19, Yashasvi Jaiswal, the Indian opening batter, etched his name into the history books by becoming the first player in Tests to score more than 750 runs at home after their first 10 innings. The 22-year-old achieved the big milestone while going past fifty in the first innings of the first Test match between India and Bangladesh at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai after the hosts were in some early trouble in the first session.

After being put into bat first by Najmul Hossain Shanto, the captain of Bangladesh, the first session belonged to their fast bowlers, especially Hasan Mahmud, who picked up the wickets of Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, and Virat Kohli cheaply. On the other end, Yashasvi Jaiswal managed to stay at the crease with the help of his strong defensive technique, coupled with his ability to put the loose balls away to the boundary.

Yashasvi Jaiswal played enterprising innings of 56 off 118 on first morning of first Test versus Bangladesh

The left-handed batter managed to score 56 off 118 with nine fours before Nahid Rana had him caught by Shadman Islam at first slip. During his accomplished innings, Yashasvi Jaiswal went past George Headley of West Indies, who had scored 747 runs, the most among all Test batters at home in their first 10 Test innings back in 1935, as per the report from NDTV.

Yashasvi Jaiswal is in first place in the illustrious list of cricketers with his 755 runs after first 10 Test innings at home, which includes a double hundred against England earlier this year.

The list of top five batters with most Test runs after first 10 innings at home:

755 runs - Yashasvi Jaiswal (India)

747 runs - George Headley (West Indies)

743 runs - Javed Miandad (Pakistan)

687 runs - Dave Houghton (Zimbabwe)

680 runs - Sir Viv Richards (West Indies)

Moreover, at the close of play on day one, India recovered from 144/6 at one stage, to reach 339/6 after Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja stitched together an unbeaten stand of 195 runs for the seventh wicket. During this epic partnership, Ravinchandran Ashwin scored his sixth Test hundred, second at home in Chennai, while Ravindra Jadeja got within 14 runs of yet another three-figure score to his name.
