Indian batter Suryakumar Yadav played a match-winning knock of 83 off 44 deliveries to help India seal the match and take the series 1-2 with two more matches left. Suryakumar Yadav, who has been struggling with form, opened up after his Player of the Match performance when asked on his ODI numbers.
It is to be noted that there were remarks on SKY’s ODI numbers after he failed to perform with the bat in the three-match series. However, after the win the third T20I, SKY accepted the fact that there is no shame in admitting that his numbers have been not upto the mark.
Talking in the post-match press conference, the explosive batter said, “To be very honest, my one-day numbers are absolutely bad and there’s no shame in admitting that.” “We all talk about honesty, and you have to be, but how you can improve is more important. Rohit (Sharma) and Rahul (Dravid) sir have told me that this is the format that I do not play much so you have to play it more and think about it” he further added.
“If you are batting in the last 10-15 overs, think about what you can do for the team. It is in my hand now how to change the responsibility into an opportunity,” SKY continued.
Talking about his numbers in 50-over format, SKY has featured in 26 ODIs and in 24 innings, he has managed just 511 runs at an average of 24.33, which also has two half-centuries.
