Nate Diaz is set to make his professional boxing debut against Jake Paul on August 5 at the American Airlines Center in Texas. However, the former UFC martial artist is not too interested in the location of the fight. As the much-anticipated fight is less than two months away, the American fighter recently demanded for the fight to be relocated to a different place.

Notably, the eight-round fight is set to take place in Texas, and the state of Texas is considerably strict on the use of marijuana as compared to the leniency shown by a majority of other regulatory bodies such as the United States Anti-Doping Agency. According to the law, the recreational use of marijuana and cannabis is considered illegal and punishable by law. Diaz took to Twitter and made his point about wanting to shift the location with a hilarious GIF. Given Diaz’s well-known addiction with marijuana, the former UFC fighter tweeted an animated meme of Homer Simpson disappearing into a cloud of smoke. He tweeted, “We gonna have to move states.”

Nate’s tweet might have been prompted by a statement released by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation that confirmed that everyone who participates in combat sports will have to undergo marijuana testing. The department regulates a restriction of 50 ng/ml THC threshold. It is punishable by a 90-day suspension and a USD 500 fine. If a fighter is tested after a fight, they can lose their result, and in return, receive an overturn to a no contest.
