Fast bowler Naveen-ul-Haq returned as Cricket Afghanistan announced its squad for the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 in India. After a poor Asia Cup 2023 campaign, the Afghans have put forth a well-rounded team for the marquee cricketing tournament. The side will be led by Hashmatullah Shahidi and include veteran stars like Mohammad Nabi and Rashid Khan.
In a big surprise, fast-bowling Gulbadin Naib has been included as a reserve player alongside S harafudin Ashraf and Farid Ahmad Malik, as Naveen-ul-Haq took his spot in the squad. Afghanistan will kick start their campaign against Asian rivals Bangladesh on October 7 at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium, in Dharamsala.
