India’s ace athlete Neeraj Chopra, who has risen to the ranks after his Olympic gold at the 2020 Summer Games, missed out on the 2022 Commonwealth Games due to an injury. With Chopra bagging gold at Tokyo Olympics and then winning the silver medal in the Javelin throw final at the World Athletics Championships 2022, India was a sure shot to get a medal in the event at the 2022 CWG.
However, Chopra was ruled at the last moment with a hamstring injury and the country people’s desire to see the golden boy in action at a prestigious event like Commonwealth Games could not be fulfilled. Nonetheless, the 24-year-old looks all set to return to action with the Lausanne Diamond League. As per a PTI report, Chopra can take part at the event if he is deemed medically fit to compete.

Meanwhile, another source had said that the javelin thrower is working on his recovery and will be making a call when the dates are near. Coming to Chopra’s injury, the 24-year-old has sustained an injury in his hamstring and thus decided to not take part in the Commonwealth Games. He was also advised a month’s rest in order to fully recover from the injury.
