Ahead of the season finale in Abu Dhabi, Haas has made a big statement on their drivers' line-up for the 2023 season. The 2023 F1 season which is set to commence in the first week of March in Bahrain, will see Nico Hulkenberg drive alongside Kevin Magnussen.
This big update comes after Haas F1 team and Mick Schumacher decided to part ways after the conclusion of the 2022 FIA Formula 1 World Championship. The 23-year-old joined the American team in December 2020 after winning the Formula 2 Championship in the same year.
Talking about Nico Hulkenberg, the German will make a full-time return in F1 after leaving F1 at the end of 2019. However, post that he did make five substitute appearances for Racing Point and Aston Martin. Most recently, he replaced Sebastian Vettel for the first two races of the 2022 F1 calendar.
Haas boss Guenther Steiner also expressed his excitement after signing the 35-year-old. “I’m naturally very pleased to be welcoming Nico Hulkenberg back to full-time racing role in Formula 1”, he said.
With 181 Grand Prix starts to his name, Hulkenberg also added, “I’m very happy to move into full-time race seat with Haas F1 Team in 2023. I feel like I never really left Formula 1. I’m excited to have the opportunity to do what I love the most again and want to thank Gene Haas and Guenther Steiner for their trust”.
