With the T20 World Cup selection round the corner, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Ajit Agarkar-led selection committee are on the top to make the perfect call and field their best 15. While there have been reports of Virat Kohli joining Rohit Sharma to play as an opener in the marquee event, the wicketkeeper-batter’s spot is one which has been the main talking point.

However, Rishabh Pant’s return to competitive cricket has been a major boost for the Indian team, making him the obvious pick in the T20 World Cup squad. But, Sanju Samson and KL Rahul are also on and off the list. But according to latest reports, KL Rahul will have one final chance to claim the second wicketkeeper-batter spot when Lucknow Super Giants host the Mumbai Indians in Lucknow on Tuesday, April 30.

According to a report published by The Indian Express, KL Rahul is set to miss out on a spot in the World Cup team. As per the report, the selectors are not ready to include any more top-order batters as India already has the like of Rohit Sharma, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Virat Kohli.

Sanju Samson could also miss out in India’s T20 World Cup squad

Furthermore, The Indian Express also adds that Sanju Samson could also miss a place in the World Cup squad despite being brilliant behind the wickets as well as with the bat in the IPL 2024 for Rajasthan Royals. Report suggests that the team management wants a wicketkeeper who can contribute down the order, but could miss out seeing he bats at no. 3.

If this case implies, Jitesh Sharma and Dhruv Jurel could find a place if Sanju Samson and KL Rahul are dropped.
