Former India cricketer and head coach Ravi Shastri slammed Michael Vaughan for his comments about the Indian team’s scheduling at the T20 World Cup 2024. The former England captain had said that India were given a benefit as Guyana was their fixed semi-final venue. The English commentator had said that this gave an advantage to the Men in Blue and was unfair to the other teams.
India were slated to play the second semi-final at 8 PM IST in Guyana, irrespective of their position on the Super Eight table. The side beat England by a margin of 68 runs in the semis to make it to the final clash and set a date with South Africa. Vaughan tweeted, “Surely this Semi should have been the Guyana one… but because the whole event is geared towards India, it’s so unfair on others.”

The former India cricketer slammed Vaughan for his remarks and said that he should check on the England team first. Shastri told Times Now, "Michael can say what he wants. Nobody in India cares. Let him sort out the England team first. He should give advice on what happened to the England team in the semifinal. India are used to lifting Cups. I know England have won twice, but India have won four times. I don't think Michael's lifted a Cup ever. So think twice. He is a colleague of mine, but that's my answer to him.”
Not only this, the cricketer-turned-commentator also called out those who complained about Suryakumar Yadav’s boundary catch. Shastri said, "Sour grapes. And go and check the record books after five years. The name India will be engraved on it.”
