24-time Grand Slam champion Noval Djokovic showcased his class in the ongoing Miami Open by defeating Argentine player Camilo Ugo Carabelli, and securing the last 16 spot. The intense match, which lasted 1 hour 45 minutes, also helped Novak earn a record 411th ATP Masters 1000 match win, breaking the tie with Spaniard Rafael Nadal. The Serbian tennis star registered t6-1, 7-6(7-1) third round victory over the Carabelli. Djokovic, who has won the most ATP Masters 1000 titles (40), finals (59), and semi-finals (78), has surpassed Nadal in terms of match wins (410) since the series' inception in 1990 on Sunday.

Djokovic stormed through the first set having complete control over the match before dominating his opponent's serve in the third game of the second set. However, the Argentine dug deep to recapture the break and then held firm behind serve to force a tie-break. Ugo Carabelli had it quite tough in the tie-break, as the 99-time tour-level champion Djokovic elevated his game to complete his one-hour, 45-minute victory. The Serbian won 80 percent (39/49) of the points on his first serve.

I am honoured to have another milestone: Noval Djokovic on achieving the record

Novak Djokovic delivered a strong performance, losing only once. He converted three out of seven break points, extending his lead in service winners and net play. Despite Carabelli's valiant effort from the baseline, it was inadequate to extend the match or push it to a decisive game.

"I’m honoured to have another milestone, another record was broken. There’s always something on the line pretty much every time I play, and of course that motivates me to do well at tournaments," said Djokovic.

The 37-year-old champion won a record 40 ATP Masters 1000 titles, his first coming in Miami in 2007. In 2018, he had won all nine Masters 1000 tournaments. By 2020, he'd won every tournament at least twice. Post-win, Djokovic will now be concentrating on playing Lorenzo Musetti in the round of 16 of the Miami Open. Ranked world number 15 on the ATP World Tour, the Italian player overcame Felix Auger- Aliassime 4-6,6-2,6-3 reaching the fourth round.
