However, during the four games played so far by the side, the island nation can be seen struggling for the majority of the time. While they now miss their regular skipper in Dasun Shanaka, who sustained a quad injury during the match against Pakistan, there have been another concern in the side.

Notably, Matheesha Pathirana now remains doubtful for the rest of the tournament. The young pacer sustained a shoulder injury and did not take part in the side’s match against Australia. As reported by the Indian Express, Pathirana has complained about pain in his right shoulder after Pakistan’s match. Although he has been assessed by physios on the same but reports suggest that he is unlikely to be part of the remainder of season now.

The Sri Lanka Cricket on Thursday added former captain Angelo Matthews and Dushmantha Chameera as travelling reserves and the duo has joined the side.

The Lankans will now take on reigning champions England in their fifth fixture at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on October 26.
