The ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 is underway in India. While the tournament has already reached its half-way mark, one of the venues of the CWC 2023, the Eden Gardens in Kolkata is yet to host its first match. While the first match of the CWC in Kolkata will be played on October 28 between Netherlands and Bangladesh, BCCI has seen some signs of worry.

Just two days ahead of the match, a section of the stadium’s exterior wall collapsed after reportedly an earth-moving machine bumped into it. This incident occurred to the portion of wall which lies between Gate 3 and 4 of the stadium. However, the authorities of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) revealed that the collapse had happened during a renovation work and the repair will be done at the earliest, a reported by TOI.
Matches at the Eden Gardens in ODI World Cup 2023
The iconic Eden Gardens will host a total of five matches of the ongoing CWC. While the first of the five will be played on October 28, Pakistan will take on Bangladesh on October 31, followed by a match between India and South Africa on November 5 and England vs Pakistan on November 11. The final match at this venue will be the second semifinal, which will be played on November 16.
